Dr. Jacob and Medical Mission

Dr. Jacob is a founder and the president of NOMMS (New Orleans Medical Missions Services) which began in 2001. To date, 32 Medical Missions to Latin America have taken place where 37,562 eyeglasses have been dispensed and 1,510 surgeries have been performed. Additionally, NOMMS has made 114 shipments of medical supplies and equipment to various Latin American destinations.

New Orleans Medical Mission Service Gala raises funds for international health relief


For supporters of the New Orleans Medical Mission Service, its gala, "Mission Possible," was just that. Founded in 2001, this group of 500 volunteers share their expertise and skills -- medical, technical, administrative, business, fundraising, and general assistance -- to work as a team to provide relief to the less fortunate. NOMMS has conducted surgical missions to Panama, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Honduras.

New Orleans Medical Mission Services annual fundraiser

New Orleans Medical Mission Services holds an annual fundraiser to raise money for its various mission services. This year’s gala fundraiser, “Mission Possible,” will be Friday, June 20, at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, New Orleans. The gala will feature music, food, drinks and a silent auction. A patron party begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by general admission at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the party are $250 and this includes tickets for two people. Individual tickets for general admission are $70.

17th Annual Pasta & Puccini Gala

Jefferson Performing Arts Society recently held its 17th Annual Pasta & Puccini Gala on October 19, 2012. This year's theme was the "Head Dress Ball." The proceeds from the event will benefit the educational programming and cultural endeavors of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. Dr. Jacob was honored to have been selected as a "Community leader and Head Dress Celebrity" for the occasion.

11th Annual Mission Possible Gala on Friday, June 22

New Orleans Medical Mission Services (NOMMS), of which Dr. Jacob is President and a founder, will hold its 11th Annual Mission Possible Gala on Friday, June 22; 7:00 – 11:00 P.M. at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins, New Orleans, Attire is dressy. The evening will include food, drink, a live band, and a silent and live auction. You can call Edna (504.392.1934) for reservations or you may purchase tickets at door for $60.

Dr Jacob was honored by the East Jefferson General Hospital Auxiliary as a 36th annual "Great Gentleman" award winner.

The members of the East Jefferson General Hospital Auxiliary have announced the recipients of the 36th annual Great Lady/Great Gentleman Award. The award is given to local residents who have made outstanding contributions to the community through volunteerism.

This year’s honorees are Dr. Jack Andoni of Metairie, Joe Baucum of Barataria, Virginia Cullens of Metairie, James Hudson of Kenner, Dr. R. Daniel Jacob of Metairie, Elaine Prager Ridgley of Metairie, Sammy Logan Steele III of Marrero and Gordon Stevens of Metairie.
